SHAWN WACOExplore Shawn Waco's work — viscosity etchings that reassemble the cities he's traveled through. Waco builds urban landscapes that blend real places with imagination. Each piece reflects a maker drawn to texture, depth, and the mood a photograph can't quite hold.
Featured Prints
"City Canyon" is a viscosity etching by Shawn Waco that builds a dense cityscape from thin black linework and muted washes of purplish pink and chartreuse. Overlapping buildings stack across layered planes, their intricate windows and balconies carving detail into the blocky terrain and casting the scene in a dusk-like glow. Printed on 15 × 11 inch paper.
"Palm Appts" is a viscosity etching by Shawn Waco that conjures a moody beachfront from layered opacities of muted bluish gray touched with chartreuse. Dozens of palm trees rise the full height of the page, while three buildings behind them nearly dissolve into the sky, held in place only by their sharply defined windows. Printed on 11.5 × 13 inch paper.
"The Swamp" is a viscosity etching by Shawn Waco in which a still body of water mirrors the trees above it, their branches drawn in fine dark linework against muted washes of light chartreuse, purplish pink, and blue. Subtle differences between the trees and their reflection quietly reveal the hand of the print rather than a photograph. Printed on 11.5 × 13 inch paper.
"Raw City" is a viscosity etching by Shawn Waco built from thin black linework, vibrant reds, and pale greenish white in stark contrast. Buildings blur into one another to form an alleyway with no clear exit, placing the viewer as if looking out from a balcony onto the scene. Printed on 11.5 × 15 inch paper.
